In this session, you’ll hear how Canvas-based resources have helped blend online learning with hands-on benchwork in a 200-level molecular cell biology lab. The core set of materials includes a series of digital workbooks that guide student groups through class discussions and laboratory experiments. Developed in Canvas group pages, the workbooks provide space for general notetaking; protocols for each laboratory exercise; workspaces for recording and analyzing data (through tables, Excel graphs, digital photos, etc.); focus questions; and other prompts. The online lab workbooks have addressed accessibility and sustainability concerns associated with previous versions of the materials and have increased student collaboration and engagement.
