Providing meaningful, iterative feedback on student writing submissions provides the basis for a writing-intensive course.  Executing this efficiently and effectively in an online course requires creative utilization of technology and software.  This session explores the role self-assessment can play in providing the instructor with insight into students’ motivations, struggles, and context surrounding their submitted writing and will demonstrate that this insight provides an opportunity for more robust and meaningful instructor-student dialogue about building on strengths, working on challenges, and addressing external factors (such as time management) affecting their writing.
